Shake it Out

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL! Enjoy this time with family, friends, coworkers, etc. SPREAD THE LOVE! As we get the prime holiday season off in full swing, not only is this a time to enjoy loved ones, but it's also time to start thinking about resolutions for the new year. Try something new this year...say maybe actually making a resolution you'll stick to for longer than a month. Don't know we all do it. :-)

Here's a little something we can all start with... Whatever grudges you might be holding on to, whatever lingering frustrations you might have... SHAKE THEM OFF! Head in to this holiday season with a smile and keep it going through December 31, 2012 (and beyond!) That smile doesn't mean that you're happy all the time and it doesn't have to be fake. This smile is metaphoric. Bad things will come into your life; that's the inevitable. But the affect that those bad things have on our personal being is up to us as individuals.

Since my injury on March 7, I've spent the rest of 2011 learning how to overcome adversity and deal with road block after road block... something I've never been terribly good at in the past. I've learned so much about myself these past few months and one my favorite lessons has been how to love and enjoy life for all it's ups and downs. It might sound odd, but one of the things I'm most thankful for this Thanksgiving is my injury. Granted, I absolutely NEVER want to go through anything like that again, but the affect it's had on me and the lessons I've learned and continue to learn are molding me into a stronger and more courageous person.

Adversity is an inevitable component of life. But if you learn how to own it, you can control it's impact. I've been listening to and loving the song "Shake it Out" on Florence + the Machine's latest album: Ceremonials. Check it out! And like the song says: shake that devil off your back that might be holding you back from living the life you want.

~xoxo! (and lots more love where that came from!)
